Rice Bags: Strong, Breathable Packaging That Protects Grain Quality
2026-11-05 10:20:00

Glossy BOPP laminated rice bag with custom printed artwork for 5 kg retail rice packs

Rice is one of the most delicate and valuable commodities in the world, and its Packaging has to protect every grain from the mill to the kitchen. At Zhejiang Saiqiang Plastic Co., Ltd. we manufacture rice bags that combine strength, breathability and clean printing, so rice millers, traders and retail brands can ship quality grain without losing it to moisture, tearing or a dull shelf presence.

Protection Designed for Rice

Our PP rice bags are woven from high-quality polypropylene tape, which gives excellent tear strength and, just as importantly, breathability: air and moisture vapour escape through the weave instead of condensing against the grain. For retail and premium ranges, BOPP laminated rice bags add a moisture-resistant, glossy film face that protects both the rice and the print during long sea freight and humid storage.

Sizes for Every Market

As a rice bag manufacturer we supply custom rice bags in a full range of sizes — from 5kg and 10kg retail bags to 25kg rice bags and 50kg rice bags for bulk export. Custom dimensions, fabric weight and handles are available to match your filling line and target market.

Choosing the Right Rice Bag for Your Filling Line

Start from the fill weight, not the artwork. A 5 kg retail pack and a 50 kg export sack carry the same grain but share almost nothing else: the retail pack wants a handle punch and a flat, shelf-ready base, while the export sack wants heavier fabric, a secure sewn top and a shape that stacks square on a pallet. Next, decide how the bag is closed on your line. A plain sewn top suits manual and semi-automatic filling; a valve or block bottom design is faster where the packer is automated. Then pick the surface — plain woven where breathability matters most, laminated where the rice will sit in humid retail space or travel far by sea. Before production we fill a sample and drop it from 1.2 metres, the quickest way to see whether fabric weight, seam and closure really match the load. You can check the size and film data for the laminated pack style as a starting reference.

Common Mistakes When Ordering Rice Bags

Three errors show up again and again in first orders. The first is choosing glossy lamination for grain that will be stored warm and humid: film keeps rain out but also traps moisture already inside the pack, so a PE inner liner or a plain breathable weave is the better answer unless the rice is properly dried. The second is ordering one bag size for every market — a bag oversized for its fill weight slumps on the shelf and wastes fabric, while an undersized one splits at the seam under pallet pressure. The third is approving artwork without checking the gusset and the bottom fold: logos placed on a side gusset disappear once the bag is filled, and fine text printed across the bottom seal cannot be read. Send a filled sample to your buyer before the full run; it costs one bag and prevents a container of reprints.

Printing That Builds Your Brand

Rice packaging is seen in homes and stores every day, which makes printed rice sacks one of the most effective advertising tools for rice brands. We offer full-colour custom printing for your logo, origin information, cooking instructions and certification marks, helping your brand stand out on the shelf — and the same print plates can run several sizes to keep a whole range visually consistent.

Frequently asked questions

How much do rice bags cost per piece?

Price depends on four things: fill weight, fabric weight, number of print colours and order quantity. A 5 kg plain woven bag with one-colour print and a 50 kg laminated export sack are different products, so we quote against your specification rather than a list price. Send the size, fill weight and artwork and you will receive a per-piece price with the plate cost shown separately. Minimum order is 500 pieces per size and design.

Which rice bag is best for 25 kg export shipments?

For mill and export use, a 25 kg PP woven sack with a sewn and hemmed top is the workhorse: it breathes, it takes pallet pressure and it closes reliably on standard filling lines. If the rice is polished, premium grade, or the destination is humid, specify a laminated surface or add a PE inner liner. Test a filled sample from 1.2 metres before committing to the full order.

How long does production take after artwork approval?

Timing runs from the moment the print proof is signed, not from the enquiry. Woven fabric and BOPP film are produced first, then printing, lamination, cutting and sewing follow in sequence. We confirm a production schedule with the quotation so you can plan the vessel booking, and we report progress at each stage. Sea freight time then depends on the destination port.

Can I print my own artwork and brand on the bags?

Yes. Send print-ready artwork and we return a proof before production. Flexo printing covers up to 8 colours, which suits logos and solid brand blocks; rotogravure on laminated bags covers up to 10 colours and holds photographs and dense local-language text. Keep critical text away from the side gusset and the bottom fold, where it disappears once the bag is filled.
